HERTS HOT RACKETS
INTER CLUB TENNIS LEAGUES
Dear Club Captains, Administrators, Contacts,
HOT RACKETS INTER CLUB TENNIS - FRIENDLY TENNIS MATCHES RETURN FROM 17/4/21 TO 3/10/21
Many thanks for all the clubs that have now replied regarding playing inter club tennis this summer.
Regarding the feedback, as expected, we have received many varied replies, clubs wanting to play, not wanting to play, clubhouses & toilet facilities not available, wanting to start/play at different starting dates throughout the season, concerns re car sharing, travelling, etc.
This is fully understandable, especially with many clubs, teams & players still uncertain if the governments road map & all the dates will go to plan, plus if covid cases will rise in the UK because of the rise in Europe, creating another possible lockdown, etc.
Taking all of this into account we feel that this season is still uncertain regarding the Coronavirus situation, plus there are to many clubs that are not sure about playing to the normal league/competition guidelines.
Therefore the 2021 Hot Rackets will be played this season as ‘FRIENDLY MATCHES ONLY’, playing matches within your set division against your opponents, ‘If & When’ you wish to play the matches, either using the 2020 match dates already on the present web site fixtures list, or agreeing a new match date as suits both teams, or even playing your listed home match at your opponent’s club, especially if your club courts/club building are not available, and your opponent’s club may be better suited to play matches, etc.
Basically you are using your existing division & fixtures to play the matches as friendlies, it will be the choice between clubs within your division as to what you decide to do.
Also any teams playing friendlies this year, there will be no entry fees payable, and the fees paid for the cancelled 2020 season will transfer to the 2022 season, when we hope to operate & play the normal Hot Rackets League Matches.
As all matches will be friendlies this year, the existing Hot Rackets web site divisions & fixtures will be frozen, therefore as in 2020, all teams, divisions & fixtures will be transferred to the 2022 season, when we hope to start Hot Rackets as normal.
Therefore any friendlies played this year will not affect/count towards the present divisions or teams positions, therefore there will not be any PROMOTION OR RELEGATION this year.
As all matches played this year will be friendlies YOU WILL NOT NEED TO ENTER ANY MATCH RESULTS ON THE WEB SITE, so all clubs existing User Names & Passwords will not work for this year only.
Also any re-arranged ‘friendly matches’ for this season, there is no need to send through any new match dates to me, as the web site will stay frozen so all fixtures, teams & divisions will stay the same as 2020, ready to be transferred to 2022.
Basically we are using this ‘unpredictable Covid Season’ for clubs & teams to still play competitive inter club ‘friendly’ tennis matches, either playing their matches as to the original fixtures within their divisions, as set up for 2020, or a new fixture date that will suit their club, teams & players, etc.
Hopefully we can get back to a normal, Promotion/Relegation operating league in the 2022 season, therefore we will send out Entry Forms for 2022, this October, that will need to be sent back by this November 2021, whereby we will create the 2022 season with the same 2020 fixtures, divisions & teams, as applicable to the teams re-joining/joining for 2022
To confirm again, all entry fees paid for 2020 will be transferred to the new 2022 season.
RECAP/HOW WILL IT WORK FOR 2021
1. This season will start on SUNDAY 17th APRIL 2021, and finish on SUNDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2021.
Working with the Government Road Map – STEP 2, which will now commence on 12th April 2021, when non-essential shops open, outdoor eating/drinking in Restaurants, Pubs, etc, commences, also in leisure centres, gyms, etc.
Any set fixtures prior to this date arranged in 2020, should be re-arranged as normal for an agreeable date anytime from, Sunday 17th April 2021 up until Sunday 3/10/21. (There are a few fixtures that were set in 2020 that are prior to the new 17/4/21 start date, there are a few over most divisions for 4/4/20 & 5/4/20, and just one fixture date of 12/4/20. All other fixture dates for 2020 were on or after the 17th April)
2. All matches can be played from the 17/4/21 to the divisions & fixture dates that were set for 2020 as per the Hot Rackets web site www.hotrackets.co.uk click on Leagues or Match Fixtures.
(Please find attached existing 2021 Divisions & Teams). As normal just check your division & fixture dates, & confirm your match with you opponents captain/contact (please see attached up to date excel Contact List – contact details are also on the web site.
The fixture dates on the web site are still dated as in 2020, so correct dates for this year 2021 will be one date back, e.g. Sunday 19/4/20 will now be Sunday 18/4/21, therefore this will apply to all dates for 2021.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND NEW FIXTURE DATES THROUGH TO ME FOR THIS YEAR AS THE WEB SITE FIXTURES & DIVISIONS ARE FROZEN
3. A small amount of clubs have confirmed they don’t wish to play this year. We have still left those clubs on the web site within their divisions/fixtures in case they may decide to just play friendly matches this year.
4. Although this year’s matches are friendlies, the normal match play format applies as in a standard season, best of 3 sets, 4 rubbers, with a match deciding ‘Quick Fire Set’ (5th Short Set), only if the first 4 sets are drawn (2 each).
5. For this year only the web site is not ‘live/Interactive’, as match scores will not be recorded & divisional positions will not change.
Your user name & password will not work, so you will not be able to gain entry to the Admin section of the web site, therefore you will
NOT NEED TO ENTER YOUR MATCH RESULTS ON THE ELECTRONIC SCORE SHEET.
The web site can be used to view your fixtures, divisions, contact details, match play procedure, league rules, etc.
6. Because of Coronavirus Rules & Safeguards, this season more than ever, when you make contact with your opponent’s captain to confirm your fixture please make sure all the normal coronavirus checks are confirmed, especially safety & hygiene rules around your club & any club you are visiting, toilet & clubhouse facilities, etc.
Also please work with clubs/teams opponents captains, if they wish to change fixtures linked to their views/situation on Coronavirus safety, especially as for this year we are only playing friendlies.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE AT PRESENT CAR SHARING FROM DIFFERENT HOUSEHOLD/BUBBLES IS NOT ALLOWED.
7. Please find attached the latest LTA Guidelines to 1/4/21 – Summary Grid Tennis Activity linked with the Government Steps/Dates for easing Lockdown.
I hope this is all understanderble & acceptable, the main idea is to help all our clubs in the Herts Hot Rackets Inter Club Tennis Leagues, to play some form of organised inter club competitive, but safe, tennis.
Everyone has been in lockdown & not been able to play any tennis over many months, so we hope by at least playing organised ‘friendly’ tennis matches, it is giving everyone an opportunity to get out & play sport again.
As mentioned earlier from the variation of feedback we have received, many clubs wish to play inter club tennis. There are many different views & opinions of how different clubs wish to operate, so when you make contact with your opponents to confirm your matches, please understand their points of views, as to when & how they wish to play their matches, especially regarding coronavirus safety, as I am sure they will understand your views.
We all know this is a ‘totally unusual season’, & we are only playing ‘Friendly Matches’!
If all captains, teams & clubs can work together, it will create a great opportunity for friendly/competitive inter club tennis to ‘safely’ start again.
I LOOK FORWARD TO SENDING OUT THE 2022 ENTRY FORMS THIS OCTOBER FOR, ‘HOPEFULLY’, A BACK TO NORMAL 2022 TENNIS SUMMER SEASON!
HAVE A FANTASTIC (IF DIFFERENT) TENNIS SEASON FOR 2021.
